Zombies won’t be in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. The entries in the series made by Infinity Ward have never had Zombies mode. So we likely won’t see it appear again until the next Treyarch game releases. However, Call of Duty’s development cycle is a bit odd this time around, so things could change.

From what we know, the next Zombies mode will come out in the next Treyarch game, which is tentatively set to release in 2024. Activision announced earlier this year that Treyarch’s game was originally supposed to be released in 2023. However, it was delayed due to the “poor” performance of Vanguard and the planned launch of a new COD free-to-play title.
However, since MW2 needs to fill a two-year gap in the Call of Duty release calendar, there’s a possibility Zombies could come to the game in 2023. Activision is really pushing Call of Duty as a package deal and is increasingly treating the main games and Warzone as two different “modes” of the COD experience. As a result, Treyarch could release an independent Zombies game sometime next year.
However, since there’s no evidence that the above is the case, we’ll continue to assume Modern Warfare 2 won’t be getting a Zombies mode and that it won’t return until 2024.
