How to get Monster Toughbone Monster Hunter Rise

Monster Hunter Rise Monster Toughbone Locations: How to Get it and What Drops it

You’ll need to find Monster Toughbone locations in Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak if you want to craft some of the new weapons and armor introduced in Master Rank. Like with Hardbone, this material can be somewhat elusive, though it isn’t as rare as some of the items needed to craft higher levels of Master Rank weapons and armor. We’ve found a few steady ways to farm Monster Toughbone. However, it’s a pretty slow process even when you know exactly how to get it.

Monster Hunter Rise Monster Toughbone Locations

The most reliable way to farm Monster Toughbone in Monster Hunter Rise that we’ve found so far is to complete certain Master Rank Optional Subquests. For example, the “Monsters: Broken Parts” quest requires you to break large monster parts three times. Completing it gets you a single Monster Toughbone, which might not seem like much, but it’s 100% guaranteed.

Accept as many subquests that reward Monster Toughbone as possible and then take a Master Rank quest involving one (or more) of the following creatures which offer the item as a reward:

  • Aknosom: 10% x1
  • Barroth: 11% x1
  • Jyuratodus: 12% x1
  • Khezu: 10% x1
  • Pukei-Pukei: 10% x1
  • Rathian: 12% x1
  • Somnacanth: 7% kill x1, 14% capture x2

As you can see in the list, taking on a quest involving the Somnacanth and capturing it gives you the biggest bang for your buck with a 14% chance of receiving 2 Monster Toughbone.

So, the best way to farm Monster Toughbone in Monster Hunter Rise is to accept subquests that reward Monster Toughbone and repeat the MR2 quest “Somnacanth Sleep Aid” until you have the amount you need. It’s just not as easy to farm as Monster Fluid.

There may be a better way to farm Monster Toughbone, but we haven’t found one yet. However, we’ll update this guide if we discover a more efficient method.
