Overwatch 2 Scoreboard Explained: What Does MIT Mean?

For those players who are familiar with first-person shooters, you will know how important a scoreboard can be, and Overwatch 2 is no exception. Having an easy-to-understand scoreboard is paramount to helping players understand how they and their teammates are performing. However, for players who may not understand the acronyms on scoreboards, this can be a little confusing and overwhelming. Thankfully once users understand the short-hand phrases, they are much easier to understand. Here is what MIT means in Overwatch 2.

What does MIT mean in Overwatch 2?

MIT in Overwatch 2 means “Mitigated Damage.”

This is damage that has been blocked from hitting a teammate. It’s damage that would have been dealt to an ally if it hadn’t been successfully blocked. This can be achieved with a shield or other ability that nullifies incoming projectiles and damage.

Users who play as support characters are likely to notice their MIT score rising significantly higher than those using other heroes. This is because MIT is primarily awarded to support characters who deflect damage/heal and help protect the team.

Though the statistic isn’t critical to winning a match, it can be a sign of a good team player who is effectively defending teammates and/or the objective. Conversely, if a support player has a low MIT, then they might not be doing their job properly!

If a team is lacking in support heroes, the damage from enemies can quickly become too much to handle. An obvious sign of this happening is the team’s total MIT being low. If it is low, players may want to consider switching to a support role in order to tank some damage.
