Doctor Strange 2 Mister Fantastic

Doctor Strange 2 Illuminati Characters: Will They Return to the MCU?

Though only for a brief moment, Doctor Strange 2 brought superheroes, mutants, and Inhumans together for the first time in an MCU movie, which is a significant development for Marvel fans. However, it’s hardly a peaceful encounter and many of the characters’ (and actors’) fates within the MCU are left in doubt. Read on for the breakdown of whether the Illuminati characters will return to the MCU after the events in the Multiverse of Madness.

Will John Krasinski return to the MCU as Mister Fantastic?

Doctor Strange 2 Mister Fantastic

John Krasinki’s Mister Fantastic meets a brutal end at the hands of Wanda. She shreds him into many pieces, with his head seemingly exploding in his final moments.

While Earth-838’s Reed Richards is very clearly dead, there’s still room for other versions of the character to pop up in the MCU.

One popular opinion is that Mister Fantastic has bought the Stark Tower and will soon be moving him and his family into it as their new home and base of operations.

At the time of writing, however, John Krasinski has made no official comment on his future with Marvel.

Will Patrick Stewart return to the MCU as Charles Xavier (Professor X)?

Patrick Stewart’s Charles Xavier also doesn’t survive the events of Doctor Strange 2. The elderly version of Professor X has his neck snapped by Wanda.

The X-Men’s presence within the MCU is a huge moment that fans have undoubtedly been waiting for. Therefore, the sudden death of this character may shock some.

Of course, this isn’t the first time that Patrick Stewart’s Charles Xavier has died, and it might not be the last time he’s returned.

Will Anson Mount return to the MCU as Black Bolt?

Doctor Strange 2 Mister Fantastic

Anson Mount’s Black Bolt is the first of the Illuminati to die at the hands of Wanda. He is quickly dispatched, with Wanda using his powerful voice against him.

This actor played the same character in the Inhumans show. Though it flopped, clearly Marvel liked the actor’s portrayal of the character enough to include him as the MCU’s version.

Out of all of the Illuminati, my gut instinct is that this character is the least likely to return. His character was given very little development in the movie and I feel like we’ve already seen enough of his powers. That said, he could certainly return or, if not Black Bolt, other Inhumans.

Mister Fantastic wasn’t the only character that met a sticky end in Doctor Strange 2. Here’s a recap of all of the characters who died in the Multiverse of Madness.

John Krasinski isn’t the only big-name actor popping up in the MCU, as Charlize Theron appeared as Clea. Here’s what she and Doctor Strange could be getting up to in future movies and TV shows.
