The Diablo series carries a lot of respect in the PC gaming community, which is why Diablo Immortal is often seen as a kind of a joke. Sure, it’s still full of dungeons and loot, but this new release is aimed squarely at a mobile audience. So does that mean Diablo Immortal won’t release for systems like the Nintendo Switch or PC? When is the game supposed to come out, anyway?
Diablo Immortal release date on Android and iOS
Diablo Immortal has not been given a firm release date. However, according to the developers at Blizzard, the game is still going to launch in the first half of 2022.
For right now, Diablo Immortal is currently undergoing a closed beta test. As you can read more about on the Blizzard website, the team most recently hosted the Dawn of Damnation event in November. With that said, development is still very much ongoing, and no specific launch date has been provided so far.
Is Diablo Immortal coming to PC or Nintendo Switch?
The developers at Blizzard have designed Diablo Immortal exclusively for mobile devices, including Android and iOS. There are no plans for PC or Nintendo Switch releases, though PC players could probably run the game using Android emulators.
When it comes to PC ports of games, we’re inclined to never say never. Games jump to PC all the time, even if it takes years. Plus, Blizzard has such close ties to PC communities, it wouldn’t be far-fetched for Immortal to cross over. However, it certainly won’t be coming to Switch at launch. It may not even have full controller support at launch, according to the lead designer.
Blizzard has only confirmed Diablo Immortal for iOS and Android mobile devices, so PC and Switch releases are very unlikely. Even if possible, it may be years after launch before those platforms are considered. Since Blizzard still hasn’t given the game a proper release date yet, it’s best to assume this one is mobile-only.
