Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl: How to get Mew and Jirachi locations

Pokemon is all about catching ’em all, and the pattern holds true in Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. However, the updated versions of these games include some rather elusive pocket monsters that only unlock under certain conditions. We speak, of course, of Mew and Jirachi, two creatures you won’t find without fulfilling specific prerequisites. Luckily, series fans shouldn’t have any problem tracking these two down.

Both Jirachi and Mew in are offered as bonuses for players with saves from previous Pokemon games. Mew is offered to players who have a save file from Pokemon Let’s Go Eevee or Let’s Go Pikachu. Jirachi is offered to players who have save data from Pokemon Sword or Shield.

This may come as a disappointment for some players, especially those countless fans of Mewtwo. Still, exclusive Pokemon aren’t exactly a new idea in the franchise. The only catch here is that you must have save data from either game on your Switch system. Assuming you still have save data on your Switch, you can unlock both creatures by heading to one specific location. Hopefully you didn’t delete your save to clear up any space, but if you did, here’s how to access Switch cloud save data.

Where to find Mew and Jirachi location

You can unlock Mew and Jirachi by speaking to an elderly couple in Floaroma Town. From the nearby Pokemon Center, head west until you spot two characters hanging out in a flower patch. The old woman will offer Mew so long as you have a Let’s Go save. Speak to the old man to unlock Jirachi if you have a Sword or Shield save.

That’s really all there is to it. Mew and Jirachi can both be unlocked relatively quickly, so long as you have saves from previous Pokemon games on your Nintendo Switch. If you’re feeling especially eager to collect ’em all, here’s how to get the National Dex in Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl.
