New World Compass tracking not working

How to fix New World Compass tracking not working bug

Players of Amazon’s MMO are getting frustrated by the New World compass tracking not working bug, where the compass at the top of the screen just randomly breaks and stops tracking resources or even quests. The New World compass bug doesn’t seem to be caused by anything special, it just happens at random — although there are some reports that Expeditions happen to break it. Is there a New World compass fix?

In order to fix the compass in New World, players have to log out and relog back into the game again.

If the above fix doesn’t work, try closing down New World or the PC entirely and restarting it, then logging back in.

This would be a simple fix, except for the fact that New World players are really struggling to log into the game right now due to the sheer amount of people playing. Fortunately, Amazon Game Studios has promised more servers to ease the problem, and hopefully it’ll fix the compass bug too — given that it’s apparently been around since the beta.

The cause of the compass bug is random but it mostly seems to happen after either joining a party and playing for a long time or after completing an Expedition. Many players point to the Amrine Expedition in particular as something that breaks the compass every time, so it might be worth avoiding this particular dungeon until the compass bug is fixed — or be prepared to have to logout afterwards, otherwise the compass won’t track objectives, animals, resources, or anything except player-set pings.
