Does iOS 15 drain battery or fix it?

Some users have trouble with iOS 14 draining their iPhone battery life fast. So, does iOS 15 stop iPhone charge from dropping quickly? Here’s the lowdown on whether or not Apple fans should be concerned about the alleged iOS 15 battery drain issue.

iPhone: Does iOS 15 drain battery life fast?

iOS 15 drain battery

Apple continually attempts to optimize iPhone battery life across its iOS updates, including iOS 15. Users shouldn’t notice a rise in power consumption or increased battery drain after installing iOS 15 for iPhone.

iPhone users can check the Battery option in the Settings app to compare power drain before and after downloading the new iOS 15 update. In GameRevolution’s testing, there was no discernable difference between battery usage before and after downloading iOS 15 on the same iPhone. Mileage may vary between users, so if there is an iOS 15 power consumption spike, consider activating Low Power Mode.

iOS 15 Battery Drain: How to enable Low Power Mode on iPhone

  1. Open the Settings application.
  2. Scroll down and tap the Battery option.
  3. Toggle Low Power Mode on.

From the same screen, it’s also possible to check the Battery Health menu. Here users can see the Maximum Capacity percentage, which indicates the current max capacity relative to the original 100% value. It’s natural for batteries to degrade over time, which some people can misinterpret as each new iOS version draining their iPhone battery life faster than the last.

iOS 15 battery drain isn’t a problem that should concern iPhone users. That said, the update is optional so anybody that’s happy to stick with their current iOS version is welcome to do so. However, this will mean that users miss out on the implementation of brand-new features like SharePlay and ProRes that are coming soon.

Apple iOS 15 is stable, plus includes a number of new security upgrades. One of these is Mail Privacy Protection, which appears as a notification the first time users check their emails on iPhone.

Considering waiting for the next iOS overhaul instead? Here’s the potential iOS 16 launch date.
