What If? episode 6 features an alternate version of the events of the first Iron Man film, with Black Panther’s Killmonger inserting himself into the mixer. As such, Pepper Potts has a big role in it. But is Gwyneth Paltrow the character’s voice actor, or did someone else assume the role for the animated series?
Is Gwyneth Paltrow the Pepper Potts voice actor in What If? episode 6?
No, Gwyneth Paltrow does not voice Pepper Potts in What If? episode 6. The role instead went to Beth Hoyt, who has previously appeared in the likes of Dead to Me, Better Call Suil, and Brooklyn Nine-Nine.
Despite this episode featuring many Iron Man characters, few turned up to reprise their roles, as Robert Downey Jr. once again didn’t return to the role for the animated version of the character. However, both Don Cheadle and Jon Favreau reprised their roles, even if they only made brief appearances during the show.
As Gwyneth Paltrow is now semi-retired, after saying in early 2021 that the only way she’d return to full-time acting is if she was “f*cking the writer,” a roundabout way of saying that she’d only consider it if her husband, Brad Falchuk, was behind it.
Despite her not returning to Potts’ role, the character has a big part to play in this episode, eventually being confronted by Shuri who informs her that Killmonger was behind the death of both Iron Man and Black Panther. This leaves questions still left unanswered as the episode ends, with Shuri and Pepper Potts clearly about to team up, despite the apparent self-contained nature of these episodes. This seems set to change, given the number of cliffhangers in the series so far.
In other news, a Penguin spin-off of The Batman was reported, showing a potential new series for the DC Cinematic Universe. A new Hawkeye Disney Plus trailer also teased the return of Yelena.
