The long-awaited final episode of Star Wars: The Bad Batch is here, wrapping up the last three months’ worth of new Star Wars animated adventures. While we were slightly lukewarm on the finale, the ending scenes do set up some very interesting plot threads for the show to explore in its recently announced second season. Star Wars: The Bad Batch Episode 16 ending explained
The final scene of the Bad Batch episode 16 takes place on an Imperial base. The Kaminoan scientist Nala Se is brought in following her capture. She meets with an Imperial officer who promises her that they’ll do plenty of work together.
Nala Se is the brain behind the cloning operation, so you can guarantee that the Empire wants her for nefarious reasons. What these new experiments might involve, we don’t yet know. It could be based around technology — for example, the development of AT-AT walkers. Equally, it could focus on the genetic side, which Nala Se is most proficient in. We could even see an Imperial version of the Bad Batch in season 2, if this is the route the Empire goes down.
In terms of the Bad Batch’s final scene, we see them jet away from their destroyed Kaminoan homeworld without Crosshair. He stayed behind on the wrecked planet. The Batch are probably on their way back to Cid’s bar on Ord Mantell. This was their base for most of the show. It’s harder to predict where Crosshair is, but given the Empire betrayed him, he’ll probably be a rogue agent from now on.
We don’t know where the show will head in its second season, but given the core members of the Batch are still together and safe, there’s bound to be plenty more adventures to come. The threat of the Empire will only grow too, given Nala Se’s involvement. That’s before worrying about Crosshair, who will have a grudge against the Batch and the Empire now — with the sharpshooting skills to take out any of his enemies.
