The Back 4 Blood open beta is now live, and players are learning just how much teamwork it takes to vanquish the Ridden. Five characters are currently available, and each of them seem to have the same baddie-blasting bravado. But are they the same? Does it matter which you character you pick in Back 4 Blood?
Does Back 4 Blood character choice matter?
Which character you pick in Back 4 Blood will make a big impact on gameplay. Each Cleaner has a different play style based around unique weapons and perks. Which character you pick also matters for your allies, as teamwork is the best way to win.
In other words, you should be choosing your character carefully. There’s nothing stopping you from trying them all out, but firefights get more dangerous at higher difficulties, so you’ll need to choose a Cleaner based on your team’s overall strategy.
Back 4 Blood: All Character Perks and Abilities
Fortunately, you can figure out which character best suits your play style by learning more about what makes them unique. Here’s a look at each of the characters featured in the current open beta as well as their bonuses, abilities, and team effects.
Evangelo
- Weapon: Machete
- Ability: Break out of grabs once every 60 seconds.
- Bonus: %75% Breakout Speed, +25% Stamina Regen
- Team Effect: +5 Team Movement Speed
Holly
- Weapon: Bat
- Ability: Recover 10 Stamina after killing Ridden.
- Bonus: +10% Damage Resistance
- Team Effect: +25 Team Stamina
Hoffman
- Weapon: M1911
- Ability: Chance to find ammo after killing Ridden.
- Bonus: +1 Offensive Inventory
- Team Effect: 10% Max Team Ammo Capacity
Mom
- Weapon: The Belgian (Sawed-Off Shotgun)
- Ability: Instantly revive an ally once per level.
- Bonus: +1 Support Inventory
- Team Effect: +1 Team Extra Life
Walker
- Weapon: Glock 23
- Ability: Precision Kills award +20% Accuracy for five seconds.
- Bonus: +10 Damage
- Team Effect: +10 Team Health
You’ll want to think carefully when choosing your character in Back 4 Blood. Which character you pick matters not only because it affects how you’ll play, but also your entire team’s strategy. Consider your own strengths or weaknesses before making the decision. Or, go the opposite route by choosing a Cleaner you don’t usually play and start learning new strategies.
