The launch of Far Cry 6 is looming on the horizon, and series fans are eager to jump into the action. But what does the game hold for players who like to test their skills online? Far Cry has always been about well-rounded single-player action, but does Far Cry 6 include multiplayer? Is there any word on co-op or the possibility of online PvP?
Does Far Cry 6 have co-op or multiplayer PvP?
Far Cry 6 includes a cooperative multiplayer mode with support for two players. However, the developers at Ubisoft haven’t mentioned any traditional online multiplayer or PvP modes such as Deathmatch or Capture the Flag, at least not yet.
This information probably won’t come as too big a surprise. Most Far Cry games are focused on providing engaging solo content, primarily through expansive single-player campaigns. There’s no reason to mess with a winning formula, but the inclusion of a third-person perspective in Far Cry 6 does show the developers are willing to try new things.
Still, that’s not to say that the series hasn’t had its share of multiplayer modes. Far Cry 2 was the first to include Deathmatch, and Far Cry 5 offered loads of multiplayer options via Far Cry 5 Arcade. There players could effectively create their own game modes thanks to a functioning map editor.
Unfortunately, there’s no word on whether or not these sort of features will appear in Far Cry 6, at least not yet. However, it’s entirely possible that new game modes will be introduced around or following launch. The team may or may not have plans to reintroduce an updated of Far Cry Arcade as well. Until we get firm details either way, we’ll just have to wait and see.
Ubisoft has confirmed that Far Cry 6 will include two-player co-op, but hasn’t mentioned online PvP multiplayer. If the new release has online multiplayer, the developers are keeping it a secret. Hopefully we’ll learn more in the months leading up to launch.
