Everyone’s ready to get their hands on Dying Light 2 Stay Human, the latest release coming out of studio Techland. Of course, not everyone intends to play the game on the same platform. What options are there for players with friends on other consoles? Does Dying Light 2 support cross-play, cross-platform multiplayer, or cross-generation co-op?
Does Dying Light 2 have cross-platform play?
Yes, Dying Light 2 Stay Human supports cross-play among supported platforms. The game has been designed to include both cross-platform play and cross-generation multiplayer support between PC, Xbox, and PlayStation devices.
While the developers at Techland haven’t provided much information about Dying Light 2 cross-play, we do at least know it will be included. This information seems to have been first revealed at game’s rating page over on the ESRB website. There, the game is listed as featuring user interaction between PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and the Xbox Series X|S, implying full cross-play support.
This information was backed up by the Dying Light 2 page at the Microsoft Store. There, the listing mentions both “Xbox cross-platform co-op” as well as “Xbox cross-gen multiplayer.” It’s clear that users who purchase the Xbox One version will be able to play with Series X|S users and vice versa in both multiplayer and co-op.
Sadly, the game’s PlayStation Store listing doesn’t provide any extra information. Still, it wouldn’t be a stretch to assume cross-generation play will be supported between PlayStation consoles. As to whether the game offers full cross-platform, cross-generation play remains to be seen. Keep that in mind before splurging on the costly Collector’s Edition.
So yes, Dying Light 2 supports cross-play, cross-platform co-op, and cross-generation multiplayer. What remains to be seen is if players on PlayStation and Xbox will be able to join multiplayer or co-op together. Hopefully we’ll learn more on the way toward the game’s release date later this year.
