Among Us shot to popularity as a fun online multiplayer game, but sometimes, players just like to go solo. When that mood strikes, is it possible to play an Among Us single-player mode? Is there a campaign or story mode for users to enjoy on their own? Here’s the lowdown on single-player support in the popular social deception game.
Is there an Among Us story mode?
A big part of what makes Among Us so popular is interacting with other players. During the pandemic, it’s been a great way to “meet” new people, though every now and again players just want to chill solo instead. But, is it actually possible to do so while playing Among Us on any of the supported platforms?
Players can matchmake solo and play Among Us online with minimal player interactions. It is not possible to play offline, however, as there is no support for A.I. bot lobbies. Similarly, there is no Among Us story mode or single-player campaign on PC, Android, or iOS. Playing Among Us alone against bots may be possible through the introduction of mods or future game updates.
Fortunately, recent rumors that the Among Us servers would shut down were fake. Many people pointed towards a CNN tweet as proof, but the game is still online and enjoying a healthy player base. If developer InnerSloth ever did shut the servers down, however, having a solo mode would enable users to keep playing offline.
Last year saw InnerSloth cancel Among Us 2. It isn’t as bad as it sounds, though, because all of its content is coming to the original game via free patches instead. It isn’t yet clear if that will include offline bots or even a single-player story campaign, but stay tuned for updates.
