Killing Floor 2 Guide to Choosing a Perk/Class to Play

Killing Floor 2 currently allows you to play as one of four classes (10 will be in the final release), or what it calls perks. Below you can learn about each and our take on them.

Berserker

XP Objective: Dealing Berserker weapon damage. Killing a Zed near a squad member with a Berserker weapon.

Bonuses:
  • Melee Damage (1%/level)
  • Attack Speed (5% + .8%/level)
  • Movement (10% + .6%/level)
  • Bloat Bile Resistance
  • Damage Resistance
  • Siren Resistance
Starting Loadout:
  • Crovel Survival Tool
  • 9mm Pistol
  • Lawn Mower Blade
  • EMP Grenade

Explanation: The Berserker is geared toward using melee and close-ranged weapons while moving quickly from foe to foe. They are the front-line of the squad, heading into combat before others.

Current State: The Berserker is middle of the pack, capable of being an effective team member, but outclassed by the Commando and Field Medic in terms of versatility.

Commando

XP Objective: Dealing Commando weapon damage. Killing Stalkers with Commando weapons.

Bonuses:
  • Weapon Damage (1%/level)
  • Cloaked Enemy Detection (2m/level)
  • Health Bar Detection (2m/level)
  • Zed Time Extension (*1 + 1sec/5level)
  • Health Increase (2%/level)

Starting Loadout:
  • AR-15 Varmint Rifle (3-burst/1-shot)
  • 9mm Pistol
  • KF-BAR
  • HE Grenade
Explanation: The Commando specializes in ranged weapon damage and hunting Stalkers. Stalkers are invisible and a major threat to team members. Their ability to see health bars and increase Zed Time in addition to a solid arsenal makes them the most dependable class to have in abundance.

Current State: The Commando is the most potent of the the current classes, equipped with no bonuses that aren't consistently helpful.

Support

XP Objective: Dealing Support weapon damage. Welding doors.

Bonuses:
  • Welding Proficiency (2%/level)
  • Shotgun Damage (1%/level)
  • Shotgun Penetration (25%/level)
  • Grenade Damage (2%/level)
Starting Loadout:
  • SG 500 Pump-Action
  • 9mm Pistol
  • Machete
  • Frag Grenade
Explanation: The Support is a master of Shotguns and welding doors.

Current State: Shotguns are potent, but every class can be good at welding. As such, the Support is currently the least useful class in the game.

Field Medic

Xp Objective: Dealing Medic weapon damage. Healing teammates.

Bonuses:
  • Syringe Recharge Rate (8%/level)
  • Syringe Potency (2%/level)
  • Bloat Bile Resistance (3%/level)
  • Movement Speed (1%/level)
  • Armor Bonus (3%/level)
Starting Loadout:
  • HMTech-101 Pistol
  • 9mm Pistol
  • Scalpel
  • Medic Grenade

Explanation: The Field Medic aids teammates with syringe heals using the HMTech-101 Pistol. It is also fast and resistant to damage.

Current State: The Field Medic is a mainstay in the current metagame. Every team needs reliable healers. Although every class can buy the HMTech-101, Medics are the most effective at using them, and are also equipped with the class exclusive Medic Grenade.
