Stardew Valley - How to get to Ginger Island

Stardew Valley | How to get to Ginger Island

The latest Stardew Valley update features an entirely new area to explore. It’s called Ginger Island, and it’s part of the Fern Islands casually mentioned by NPCs. While it will take some time and effort, it’s possible to get to Ginger Island with a little help from fisherman Willy. Here’s what you need to know.

How to get to Ginger Island in Stardew Valley

To get to Ginger Island in Stardew Valley, you need to complete a few tasks for Willy. He has a boat that can be used to reach the Fern Islands, but it’s fallen into disrepair. You’ll need to fix the ship using hardwood, battery packs, and iridium bars in order to reach Ginger Island.

Keep in mind that you won’t be able to repair the ship right away. The exact requirements aren’t yet known, but it seems as if you’ll need to complete the rest of Willy’s challenges first. You’ll know the requirements have been met when you receive a letter saying he’s unlocked the back room of his shop. You’ll also need to make sure you’ve installed Stardew Valley update version 1.5.

With those requirements met, pay a visit to Willy at the beach. After entering his shop, Willy will slyly mention a boat he’s got out back. You’ll also be able to spot the newly added door at the rear of his fishing shack.

Go through the door, and Willy will explain that the boat belonged to his father years ago. It’s in a sad state, and he doesn’t have the materials needed to restore it to its former glory. That’s where you come in.

You can fix Willy’s boat by giving him the following materials:

  • Hardwood x 200 to fix the hull
  • Battery Pack x 5 to repair the Ticket Machine
  • Iridium Bar x 5 to repair the Iridium Anchor

After you’ve gathered all the materials, bring them back to Willy’s shop. He’ll be grateful for your help, and will require a day to fix the ship. Once he’s done, you can return to the back room of his shop and pay 1,000 gold to take the boat to Ginger Island.
