Genshin Impact - how to get a Portable Waypoint

Genshin Impact | How to get a Portable Waypoint

The world of Genshin Impact is huge, with numerous regions occupying the continent of Teyvat. Players can fast travel using waypoints, but these are set in fixed locations. However, there’s one craftable item called a Portable Waypoint that can be used to fast travel from just about any location. Here’s how to get a Portable Waypoint and what you need to know about using one.

How to get a Portable Waypoint in Genshin Impact

You’ll receive the blueprint needed to craft a Portable Waypoint after reaching Reputation Level 6 in Mondstadt. These items can be used to travel to and from nearly any location in Genshin Impact. The only real catch is that the Portable Waypoint will be consumed upon use.

For most players, these items will be invaluable. After reaching Reputation Level 6 in Mondstadt, the blueprint will be unlocked. After crafting one for the first time, you’ll unlock its archive entry, which means you’ll also receive one Primogem. From there, you’ll be able to place the custom waypoint just about anywhere you choose.

We say “just about” because there are a few caveats to its use. Portable Waypoints cannot be created underwater or in mid-air, nor can they be deployed in Abyssal Domains. However, they will record your orientation at the time they were deployed, and will remain usable for seven days. You’ll be able to select them from the in-game map, but they appear as custom waypoints, so be sure not to accidentally delete them.

After you’ve unlocked the blueprint, you can craft a Portable Waypoint using the following items:

  • Mora x 500
  • Crystal Chunk x 5
  • Luminescent Spline x2
  • Dead Lay Line Leaves x 1

Remember that Portable Waypoints are consumable items, so it’s best to use them only when necessary. They’ll also only last for seven days, after which you’ll need to deploy a new one. Otherwise, they’re perhaps one of the single most useful items in Genshin Impact.
