Black Ops Cold War overpowered weapons

Black Ops Cold War Overpowered Weapons | Which guns are OP?

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is out now, though, as expected, there are some early teething issues. Players on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S are voicing concerns about a selection of OP guns. Are the complaints about Black Ops Cold War overpowered weapons legitimate, though? Here are the reportedly OP weapons to watch out for.

CoD: Black Ops Cold War Overpowered Weapons | OP guns list

Black Ops Cold War op guns

The Call of Duty series is no stranger to controversy when it comes to weapon balancing, and CoD: Black Ops Cold War continues that tradition at launch. Treyarch and Activision may eventually patch certain weapons to help level the playing field, but for now, some firearms are notably more powerful than others at launch.

These Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War weapons are overpowered (OP):

  • MP5 – SMG
  • Milano 821 – SMG
  • KRIG-6 – Assault Rifle
  • Pelington 703 – Sniper Rifle

The MP5 and Milano 821 (Type 821) submachine guns both boast incredible speed and versatility, as the SMG weapon class should. Many players believe that they mow down opponents far too quickly, however, so it’s possible that they could be nerfed in a future update.

When it comes to the KRIG-6 AR, the weapon features immense stopping power and precision. Since it’s effective at all ranges, some people believe it to be the defacto Assault Rifle in CoD: Black Ops Cold War.

Black Ops Cold War players probably see a lot of the Pelington 703 on their killcam. Sniper Rifles, in general, were labeled as OP during the beta. The strength of quickscoping plays a large part in this, arguably making the typically long-range weapon class more diverse in Black Ops Cold War than ever before.

More (hopefully balanced) weapons will be making their way to Black Ops Cold War before the end of the year. Check out the game’s late 2020 and early 2021 content roadmap for details.
