Amnesia: Rebirth Can't Run

Amnesia: Rebirth Can’t Run | Why doesn’t sprint work?

Is there an easy Amnesia: Rebirth can’t run bug fix? PC and PS4 players are finding themselves unable to sprint in Frictional Games’ Amnesia sequel. When running and hiding is pretty much the only tool in the player’s arsenal, that’s not exactly ideal. Here’s how to fix sprinting in Amnesia: Rebirth.

Why can’t I run in Amnesia: Rebirth?

Amnesia: Rebirth Can't Run

Part of what makes the Amnesia series so infamously terrifying is the inability to fight back. Players are always vulnerable, but at least they can sprint away from monsters if it all gets too much. Well, in theory, at least, as it’s hard to do so when running doesn’t work in Amnesia: Rebirth.

The sprint function can stop working seemingly at random. Sometimes pressing the shift key on PC or L2 on PS4 will prompt the protagonist to run, yet other times they will stubbornly refuse to and continue to walk. This appears to be a glitch; if users just keep playing the ability to sprint should come back and fix itself. Rebooting the game could also be a solution to the Amnesia: Rebirth running issue.

Hopefully, developer Frictional Games will address the Amnesia: Rebirth sprinting glitch in a future patch. It’s also worth noting, however, that this could be intended and one of the ways that the game’s sanity system messes with players. It doesn’t seem too likely, though, due to its unexplained presence being more frustrating than anything else and the issue often occurring without any spooky stimulus.

Still, taking it slow is at least a good approach. Amnesia: Rebirth doesn’t become unplayable when users can’t sprint, as a lot of time is spent carefully creeping around monsters to avoid drawing their attention anyway.
