Does Genshin Impact have cross progression?

Genshin Impact is the hottest new open-world action RPG from the developers at miHoYo. It’s available on PC, PlayStation 4, iOS, and Android, with cross-play enabled for all supported platforms. But does Genshin Impact have cross progression? If so, how does it work? Read on to find out.

Does Genshin Impact have cross progression?

Does Genshin Impact have cross-progression support

Genshin Impact does feature cross progression support. However, it doesn’t work for all platforms. The PlayStation 4 version of the game doesn’t feature cross progression with iOS, Android, or PC. Otherwise, players can hop between mobile and PC and pick up right where they left off.

How does cross progression work?

Cross progression in Genshin Impact is remarkably simple. All players have to create an account when they first join the game. At that point they’ll be given a unique UID that allows them to link up and enjoy the game with other players. All of their progress is tied to that ID number.

As such, if you log in to your account on another platform, you’ll be able to continue your progress. The only exception is for PS4 players. For whatever reason, the PlayStation 4 version of the game does not support progression with other platforms. Any progress you make on the PlayStation 4 will only apply to the PS4. Fortunately, cross-play still works between PlayStation 4, PC, and mobile.

Otherwise, cross progression is enabled globally. This allows you to switch between PC, iOS, and Android versions of the game, continuing the action right where you left off. Presumably the system will also work for the Nintendo Switch version, though it’s so far unclear when the game will release for the Switch.

The cross progression system in Genshin Impact is designed for players to continue playing wherever and whenever they like. It’s perfect for PC players who want to get their fix on-the-go, or for the small demographic of players flipping between iOS and Android devices. It just doesn’t work for PlayStation 4, at least not yet.
