How to Loop in Risk of Rain 2

Risk of Rain 2 is a roguelike, which means it technically doesn’t end until your Survivor dies. As such, the best way to track your progress through each run is in loops. Here’s how to loop in Risk of Rain 2 and the challenge you’ll complete for achieving your first.

Risk of Rain 2 - How to loop

Looping in Risk of Rain 2 involves completing sets of five stages. Each time you complete the fifth stage Sky Meadow, the game will loop back to the first environment. Item cost and difficulty will increase with each loop, and new monsters will begin to appear.

There are a few reasons why you’ll want to keep this information in mind. First and foremost, reaching the end without looping is required to beat the game and face the final boss. To do so, you need to activate the Primordial Teleporter while it is aligned to the moon.

To complete your first loop, you need to make sure the Primordial Teleporter is aligned to the planet. Activating it during this alignment will send you back to one of the starting environments, either Titanic Plains or Distant Roost. Doing so will also complete the Deja Vu? challenge and unlock the Sentient Meat Hook Legendary item.

Once you’re back to square one, you’ll notice several new enemy spawns. Jellyfish start appearing in Distant Roost and Titanic Plains, while the mortar-firing Hermit Crabs will appear in Titan Plains. Alloy Vultures show up in Scorched Acres, Clay Templars appear in Abandoned Aqueduct, and Void Reavers appear in Rallypoint Delta and Siren’s Call. Looping also increases your chances of encountering the rare Overloading Worm.

Finally, you need to reach stage three after your first loop to encounter a Celestial Portal. These will take you to A Moment, Fractured, where you can obliterate yourself at the obelisk. This is required to unlock the True Respite challenge, or alternatively fight one of the Twisted Scavenger secret bosses.
