Currently, there’s been no official confirmation that a Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 4 remake is in development. We do know, however, that Tony Hawk himself would love to make it happen. With that in mind, provided that the upcoming Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2 sells well, a THPS4 remaster could definitely be developed in the future.
The legendary “Birdman” told Game Informer (via PC Invasion) that Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2 is “just the start.” Hawk’s ultimate goal is to continue collaborating with Activision and “remaster other titles” including Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 4.
Securing backing from Activision to move ahead with that plan will likely hinge on how well Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2 performs. Should it prove to be successful, you could argue that more THPS remakes are inevitable.
There’s certainly demand from fans, at any rate, and it’s no wonder when the original secured a 94 on Metacritic. Maintaining that level of quality in a remaster could be a daunting task, though Vicarious Visions might just be up to it judging by the fun THPS 1 + 2 demo.
