Does Ghost of Tsushima have microtransactions?

Does Ghost of Tsushima have microtransactions? It’s an obvious question to ask yourself when weighing up whether or not to make a purchase, so keep scrolling for all the information you need. In this guide, we’ll discuss Ghost of Tsushima MTX and DLC that can be acquired for the game.

Are there Ghost of Tsushima microtransactions?

Does Ghost of Tsushima have microtransactions

No, there aren’t any microtransactions (MTX) in Ghost of Tsushima. We’ve been able to verify this for ourselves, plus the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) listing doesn’t make mention of any in-game spending opportunities.

At the time of launch, there are no microtransactions featured in developer Sucker Punch‘s Ghost of Tsushima; it’s possible that they could be added at a later date, however. There’s nothing to indicate that this will be the case, but it has happened in the past and is worth bearing in mind.

Sony‘s first-party titles don’t tend to feature microtransactions, at least outside of online multiplayer modes. Knowing this, as a singleplayer PS4 exclusive Ghost of Tsushima could be safe moving forward.

The (kinda) authentic samurai game does feature pre-order DLC. The Hero of Tsushima Skin Set will be available to players that buy the Digital Deluxe Edition or Collector’s Edition; it features armor for protagonist Jin Sakai and his horse. That last bit definitely gives us bad Oblivion flashbacks… Whether the Hero of Tsushima Skin Set will be made available to purchase separately remains to be seen.

Although it isn’t in-game content, it’s also possible to bag additional digital items by pre-ordering the game:

Ghost of Tsushima digital pre-order bonuses

  • Ghost of Tsushima digital mini soundtrack
  • Jin PS4 dynamic theme
  • Jin PS4 avatar

Though it is possible to bag some digital goodies by pre-ordering and purchasing more expensive versions of the game, the answer to the question “Does Ghost of Tsushima have microtransactions?” remains no — it does not.
