How to get the Solar Armor in Fallout 76

Surviving the wasteland in Fallout 76 can be tough. Fortunately, there’s plenty of gear that can help keep you alive in dangerous situations. One of the most useful gear sets is the Solar Armor, which was added to the game alongside the Nuclear Winter DLC. Beyond offering extra damage reduction, the Solar set notably offers health regeneration — both for you and your teammates. Here’s how to get it.

To get the Solar Armor in Fallout 76, you need to collect five different Solar Armor crafting plans. These plans can be earned during Vault 94 raids or bought from Regs in Vault 79. When earned from raids, the plans used to build Solar Armor pieces are dropped in sequence: left arm, right arm, left leg, right leg, and chest.

It’s possible to craft either Level 40 or Level 50 Solar sets. The Level 40 variant offers 134 physical damage reduction and 101 energy damage reduction, while the Level 50 set offers 160 physical and 120 energy damage reduction. Neither set offers any sort of radiation damage reduction. However, once all pieces are equipped, both you and your nearby teammates will regenerate health so long as your health is already above 60 percent. The effect heals for four hit points every second.

Crafting the Solar Armor set will require Ballistic Fiber, Leather, Plastic, Rubber, Vault 94 Steel, and Legendary Modules. Ignoring the more common components, which you’ve hopefully already stockpiled, you’ll need at least five Legendary Modules and up to 65 Vault 94 Steel to craft the Level 50 set.

There’s also one final piece to the Solar Armor set: The Vault 94 Scout Armor Mask. It’s often lumped together with both the Solar Armor set as well as the Scout Armor set, as both are visually identical. However, the Vault 94 Scout Armor mask does not apply any set bonuses, and is only dropped when completing Vault 94 raids on Expert difficulty.
