With the hotly-anticipated game finally out of the bag with a gameplay reveal, people have been wondering about a potential Baldur’s Gate 3 PS4 and Xbox One release date. In this guide, we’ll let you in on whether there’s going to be a Baldur’s Gate 3 console version for current-gen or not. Read on to find out if the big new RPG will release on PS4 or Xbox One.
Is There a Baldur’s Gate 3 PS4 and Xbox One Release Date?
As of writing, Baldur’s Gate 3 has only been confirmed to be releasing on PC and Google Stadia. After the exciting gameplay reveal from PAX East, however, you’ll be wanting to know if Larian Studios will release the RPG on PS4 or Xbox One. Unfortunately, it sounds as though there probably won’t ever be a Baldur’s Gate 3 PS4 and Xbox One release date.

Speaking to Eurogamer, David Walgrave, executive producer of Baldur’s Gate 3, spoke on the subject. Walgrave explained when asked about other platforms outside of Stadia and PC that the developer is “focusing on PC and Stadia but that’s it.” Walgrave adds, too, that he has “no idea” about Baldur’s Gate 3 coming to consoles.
Diving deeper into the question, he explains that he doesn’t “think that current-gen consoles” are able to run Baldur’s Gate 3. Not without heavy graphical compromises, anyway. While it’s not an official confirmation, it’s clear that Baldur’s Gate 3 is currently in development for PC and Stadia only. It appears as though there are no plans to port it to PS4 and Xbox One.
Because of all of this, we can argue that we think a Baldur’s Gate PS4 or Xbox One port isn’t likely at all. Especially given the upcoming release of both the PS5 and Xbox Series X. Perhaps we’ll see Baldur’s Gate 3 on the next-gen. For now, though, Baldur’s Gate 3 remains a PC game.
