Rust Nintendo Switch release date

Is there a Rust Nintendo Switch release date?

Survival game Rust is hugely popular on PC and, as such, has been confirmed to be making its way to PS4 and Xbox One. With a console version on the horizon, is it possible that there could also be a Rust Nintendo Switch release date lurking somewhere in the bowels of developer Facepunch Studios, just waiting to be announced? In this guide, we’ll cover everything that you need to know about a potential Rust Nintendo Switch version.

Is Rust coming to Nintendo Switch?

Although Rust has been confirmed to be making its way to consoles, the targetted platforms are PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Currently, no plans related to bringing Rust to Nintendo Switch have been shared by developer Facepunch Studios. That doesn’t mean that there’s no hope for a Switch version to eventually see the light of day, however.

With Rust fans enquiring about a potential Switch version and debating whether or not a port is even possible on Reddit, it’s clear that there’s an appetite for the survival giant to make its way to Nintendo’s hybrid handheld. Although many opine that the port is impossible in the aforementioned threads, it should be noted that fellow PC survival success story, ARK: Survival Evolved, managed to make the transition to Nintendo Switch back in 2018.

Ark wasn’t well-received on Switch, but, now that developers have had more time to tinker with the hardware — not to mention they can use Ark as a case study on what not to do — it could be possible for Rust to fare much better when making the jump.

It’s only possible to speculate on what the future might hold with regards to a Rust Nintendo Switch port at this point in time. If the PS4 and Xbox One versions perform well, however, it definitely seems to be within the realm of possibility.
