Apex Legends 1v1 Mode | How to enable Firing Range friendly fire

Limited-time playlists like Solos and Duos have been welcomed by the Apex Legends community with open arms, but now there’s an inventive way for players to test their skills in 1v1, 1v1v1, and 2v1 encounters at any point in time. The game’s Firing Range previously offered three players a safe space in which to practice with certain guns, ability combinations, and team compositions, but thanks to the addition of a friendly fire option it’s now also possible to make things competitive. Here’s how to access the hidden Apex Legends 1v1 mode.

How to 1v1 duel in Apex Legends

Apex Legends 1v1 mode

As of the December 3 Apex Legends 3.2 update on PC (the patch has been delayed on PS4 and Xbox One), it’s possible for players to enter the Firing Range alongside up to two friends or rivals and engage in a true test of skill. Although the game will register those present as teammates, with the addition of a Firing Range friendly fire toggle it’s possible to ignore that designation and start killing one another.

Players will need to dictate their own rulesets since the mode isn’t officially supported, which is where a third player slot might come in handy to referee 1v1 matchups. Friendly fire can be disabled from the in-game settings menu, though it will only appear as a menu option when there’s more than one player present in the current session, so don’t worry if you can’t see it when playing solo.

If you’ve got the kind of friends (or enemies) that ask for a 1v1 should their ability ever come into question, Apex Legends is now a battleground on which you can settle your scores. Try to keep it all in good spirits, though, yeah? It’s easy to get heated when it comes to these things.
