How to catch Eternatus in Pokemon Sword and Shield

Avoiding any spoilers, as a part of the main story in both Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield players will do battle with Eternatus and have the opportunity to capture it afterward. It’s worth noting that Eternatus cannot be caught in its initial form, but only when it transforms into its unique “Eternamax” form and players defeat it alongside their in-game companions.

It’s very likely that the capture is guaranteed, though if you want to play it safe then use a quality Pokeball and make a manual save prior to the battle that can be returned to should things go awry.

These wolves are the game’s cover stars, with Zacian being exclusive to Pokemon Sword and Zamazenta being exclusive to Pokemon Shield. You’ll naturally encounter these Legendary Pokemon by progressing through the post-game narrative, which we won’t spoil here. With a guaranteed encounter to look forward to, all you need to be aware of is that you can only capture the Legendary Pokemon associated with your version of the game. If you want the other as well, you’ll need to trade for it.

Once again, use a quality Pokeball and make a manual save beforehand if you want to play it extra safe. If you’re having any trouble, it might be time to break out the Master Ball.

How to get Type: Null in Pokemon Sword and Shield

Players don’t actually need to worry about capturing Type: Null—which is capable of different evolutions—as it can be gifted to them after they’ve completed the main story and unlocked the Battle Tower. There, talking to a League Staff member will prompt them to offer you the chance to take Type: Null off their hands.
