Modern Warfare Finishing Move | How to do a Finisher

Taking a note from a bunch of other popular first-person shooter games, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare includes the option to execute one-hit-kill Finishing Moves. Of course, if you’re here, you’re probably hoping to discover what a Modern Warfare Finishing Move is. That’s why we’re here to let you know exactly what a Finishing Move or Finisher is as well as how to do a Finishing Move in Modern Warfare.

What is a Finishing Move in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare?

Modern Warfare Finishing Move

A Finishing Move or Finisher in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is a powerful, one-hit-kill melee attack. Finishing Moves are always lethal, and for that reason, they can only be performed under specific circumstances.

If you manage to pull off a Finisher, you will execute your opponent with a fancy kill animation. There’s an inherent risk, though: It takes longer to execute a Finishing Move than it would to land a few standard melee hits, which means trying to perform a Finisher may leave you open to attack from other players in the area.

What’s more, you’ll have get behind the enemy within melee range. It’s not necessary to go undetected, but if you make a noise that causes the enemy to turn around, you’ll no longer be in the proper position to perform a Finisher. However, if you’re successful, you’ll get a cool 150 points for killing an enemy with a Finishing Move. For many players, the reward is well worth the risk.

How to do a Finishing Move in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare

Now that you know what a Finisher is, you will almost certainly want to know how to do one. Thankfully, the process is very straightforward. Follow the steps below in order to perform a one-hit kill Finishing Move in Modern Warfare.

  • Get behind an enemy, ideally without being detected. Finishing Moves can only be performed on enemies from behind.
  • Once in position, press and hold the melee button (R3 on PS4 or RS on Xbox One).
  • Watch the gruesome animation and kill unfold.

Many players may have trouble even getting into position for a Finishing Move. As it happens, there are a few perks and upgrades that can help with that. The most helpful is probably the Dead Silence Field Upgrade, which will mask the sound of your footsteps as you approach the enemy. The Ghost Perk will also help conceal your movements from enemy surveillance. Finally, the Heartbeat Sensor perk can help you locate nearby enemies.

It probably won’t take long to notice that every Operator in the game has a different Finishing Move animation. What’s more, the animation that plays out differs depending on whether the enemy is standing or is prone. Finally, players are going to want to perform as many Finishing Moves as they can as quickly as they can, since the Operator Kreuger is unlocked by successfully performing 25 Finishing Moves.

That’s all there is to performing Finishing Moves in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. Again, be aware that the Finishing Move animation is slow—it’s around two or three seconds total—and that extra time locked in the animation could give your opponent or victim time to react or counter-attack. Thankfully, you can cancel the Finishing Move animation by pressing the melee button once the attack has been started. Doing this will cancel the execution and perform a standard melee attack instead.
