The good news is that Red Dead Redemption 2 is coming to Steam, putting an end to speculation that it would be a Rockstar Games Launcher exclusive. However, there is a significant release delay between both platforms, one that could seriously weigh in on your decision.

If you pre-ordered Red Dead Redemption 2 from the Rockstar Games Launcher, you can pre-load the game right now and get set for the launch on November 5. It’s a 109 GB download, so at launch it won’t eat up 150 GB of hard drive space as stated in the official system requirements. Furthermore, you get a few bonuses for the main game and Red Dead Online, something that Rockstar understandably threw in to convince players to use their new launcher.

The Red Dead Redemption 2 Steam release is slated for December but there aren’t any further details about exactly when in December. In the most likely scenario, it will be over a month since the Rockstar Games Launcher release, but it’s reasonable that many players will choose to hold off for the Steam release. After all, there are a few perks from this digital platform that they aren’t willing to ignore, such as Steam Wallet and the friends list.

Whatever your platform of choice turns out to be, you’ll be playing the Red Dead Redemption 2 PC version during 2019, experiencing one of the most critically acclaimed game this generation with a host of improvements on top, including upgraded visuals, technical enhancements, and additional missions.
