Minecraft Earth Microsoft Account

Do I need a Microsoft account to play Minecraft Earth?

If you’re interested in playing the beta version or full game when it’s out, you’ll want to know if you need a Minecraft Earth Microsoft account to play it. A Microsoft or Xbox Live account might be necessary as the game is owned by the former, and published by Xbox Game Studios. However, the game is only coming to iOS and Android so there is some confusion as to whether you need an account for either to play it. Find out the definitive answer to this with our Minecraft Earth Microsoft account guide.

Minecraft Earth Microsoft Account

You may be a bit confused over whether you have to have a Minecraft Earth Microsoft account or not if the game isn’t playable on a Microsoft-owned platform. Minecraft, Minecraft Earth‘s bigger brother, though, is available on a number of platforms including Nintendo Switch, iOS, and Android. You need a Microsoft account on this console and mobile phone ports so you can cross-play with Minecraft players on PC, Xbox One, and other platforms too.

It might seem obvious, then, that you’d need a Microsoft account in order to play Minecraft Earth. And you’d be right. According to an official FAQ about the sandbox ARG, users will need to use their Microsoft account to play it. If you don’t have one, you can register your own account here.

Thankfully, a Microsoft account is free to register and use. You won’t have to fork over any cash to make one and, by extension, play it. The game is free-to-play, too, so you won’t have to worry about using any cash if you just want to test it out to see if you like it.

Having a Microsoft account enables Minecraft Earth to track your progress, save your builds, and save your inventory, too. You don’t have to start over from scratch every time you start it up, so there’s nothing but benefits here.
