Mortal Kombat 11 1.10 Update Patch Notes | New variations, towers, fixes, and more

Mortal Kombat 11 1.10 Update Patch Notes | New variations, towers, fixes, and more

The Mortal Kombat 11 1.10 update patch notes are finally upon us and are more than just a few bug fixes. After long last, the third tournament variations are here, giving more variety to tournaments. The Terminator is hidden in this 6 GB patch, but he won’t be playable until October 8 for those who own the Kombat Pack. Regardless, these MK11 1.10 update patch notes contain some small balance changes too and some sweet new quality of life changes. If you’ve been looking for Skeleton Keys in the Krypt, today is your lucky day. Well, it’s only your lucky on the PS4 and Xbox One as PC and Switch haven’t gotten this update yet. The full patch notes are now listed below.

Mortal Kombat 11 1.10 Update Patch Notes | New variations and The Terminator

Mortal Kombat 11 1.10 Update Patch Notes | New variations, towers, fixes, and more

As the title says, each of the fighters has a new tournament variation. Most of them are just old moves compiled into a variation, but almost all of them have had to be rebalanced in order to better facilitate the game’s competitive modes. For example, Shang Tsung’s new variation now has all of his ninja moves in it, which were previously only locked to non-competitive modes like Kasual matches and the towers.

These variations won’t show up on your fighter by default. You’ll need to go into the Kustomization menu and manually add it to your rotation to play in the towers or non-competitive modes. To do that, go to your third slot, go to abilities, and press the Square button (PS4) or the X button (Xbox One). You can see the tournament variations with the little trophy next to them. Just pick the third trophy to manually make that your third slot. Check the picture for details.

The Terminator was also added and is not supposed to be playable. However, we recently accidentally found a weird loophole in the patch that let us summon him the tower. Here is the video of him in action.

Mortal Kombat 11 1.10 Update Patch Notes | New co-op towers

Mortal Kombat 11 1.10 Update Patch Notes | New variations, towers, fixes, and more

The Towers of Time have been completely moved around as the Gauntlet is now on the top instead of the direct center. But the new tower type is the biggest new feature. Co-op towers are part of the consistent rotation now and will shuffle in like every other tower instead of just during special events. There are even new co-op tower types. These new towers will let players team up with other people in order to take down a hard boss. Although each player is independently fighting a different version of the same boss on their screen. If they complete team actions, they’ll get special buffs. But all three players have to do them. For example, it might ask each to jump three times. If all three players do three jumps in the allotted time, they’ll get armor (or any other buff) for a limited time.

Towers are also labeled as you hover over them, which is helpful. You can see how it says “Ko-Op Towers” in the above picture. Towers also give more character rewards and beating towers on brutal difficulty give even more character rewards like skins, gear, and augments.

Mortal Kombat 11 1.10 Update Patch Notes | Balance changes

These balance changes in this MK11 1.10 update aren’t as sweeping as the last giant patch, but there are some worth noting. Jax’s fast Fatal Blow is still just as quick, but it is a high, meaning you can duck under it. Liu Kang’s forward O/B kick is now two frames slower, meaning it isn’t as oppressive. Kitana can now universally spend a bar while in the air to toss her fans in order to juggle the opponent. She also got a new Krushing Blow off her forward 2, 3, 4.

Frost can now enhance her Core Overload ability to act as a ticking time bomb that can freeze the opponent if she doesn’t take damage for a few seconds. Johnny Cage’s arced fireballs are lower so they are easier to land and his Rising Star move is now a lot faster. Jax’s Enhanced Outranked move now has a new ending move that can either send the opponent flying or can be an overhead, which keeps them guessing. His Lethal Clap move also can pop the opponent up if his arms are fully heated.

Erron Black now has a new short animation for his Acid Pour grab. The enhanced version is still the long grab though. All of Kung Lao’s Great Kung Lao moves are much faster and if the Soul Burst projectile one hits at full range, it will trigger a Krushing Blow. Kano’s forward 1 is now a mid, which is a solid buff.

Many of those changes are important now because they are in the third variations. There are numerous more balance changes as some moves are faster and slower in the patch notes but those are the biggest ones. We will have to wait until they drop to fully see the exact frame data.

Mortal Kombat 11 1.10 Update Patch Notes | Quality of life changes

One of the bigger non-kombat changes revolves around the Skeleton Keys in the Krypt. They can now be found on spearable bodies and have a better refresh rate in restocked chests. The game’s premium shop is now different and sells way more items. Character tower requirements have now been drastically reduced yet again. The text below the gear and skins is now more specific about exactly where you can find each item. There is also an indicator in the Kustomization menu that shows what new stuff you have gotten. Cassie, Jax, and Johnny Cage all now have Revenant skins but they are only earnable in the Kombat League, which starts soon. All characters also have a few new taunts and finishers, but they are not out yet. The severed head shrines in the Krypt also now display how many fatalities you’ve performed on said character.
