As the Fortnite Fortbyte event comes to a close, Epic Games has given players a unique challenge for today’s hidden item. Fortbyte 28 is accessible by solving the pattern to match the puzzle outside a desert junkyard. While this might not sound like much at first, it is actually quite a pain to get, especially if you’re trying to do it on the day it released. Alas, we cannot quit now and must persevere! With that, let’s take a look at the Fortbyte 28 location.
Fortbyte 28 Location | How to find Fortbyte 28 in Fortnite
As we mentioned earlier, this is one of the harder Fortbytes to get thus far in the event. Thankfully, unlike some of the previous Fortbytes, this one can be done without other players. However, if there are a bunch of players at the junkyard location, it’s going to be difficult to get and you’ll probably get murdered.

On that encouraging note, you can find the desert junkyard to the south of Paradise Palms. You’ll find the pattern match puzzle on the northeast side of the junkyard. You can see the exact location of the pattern match puzzle on the map below.
As you land, you should see a bunch of colored panels along a wall with a big lever in front of them. You’re going to need to pull the lever and then watch the panels to see which ones light up. Once they finish, you’ll need to replicate the pattern by hitting the panels. You’ll have to go through a couple of rounds or matching and if you’re successful all the way through, then Fortbtye 28 will unlock. If you mess up, you’ll have to restart.
You can hit the panels with your pickaxe or shoot them with a gun. Both methods work, however, you’ll probably want to have a gun due to the nature of this Fortbyte. It’s not one that you’re going to be able to grab quickly, so you’ll likely need some protection. If you land alone or with a good group then a gun isn’t necessary. However, odds are that you’re going to land with a troll who is going to grab a gun and kill everyone.
In my case, someone threw down an Air Strike and we all died. Unfortunately, there really isn’t much you can do about it aside from starting a new game and trying again. If you’re not in a hurry, you might want to wait until later today or possibly tomorrow to go after this Fortbyte.
