Fortnite Pirate Cannon Jetpack Bug | Why was I eliminated?

There’s a Fortnite Pirate Cannon Jetpack bug that had caused a huge debate in online circles. Players have found that they eliminate themselves in matches if they use both items together. See what the Fortnite Pirate Cannon Jetpack bug is, and whether there’s a fix for it.

Fortnite Pirate Cannon Jetpack Bug

Let’s dive right into what the Fortnite Pirate Cannon Jetpack bug actually is. The introduction of Pirate Cannons, as part of the Season 8 update, allows you to fire yourself across parts of the map. This enables you to travel faster over longer distances, potentially get the drop on opponents, find better loot from cache drops, and more.

Using them with the jetpack item is, however, causing problems for players. A massive thread on the game’s Reddit page showed how using the items together can cause you to eliminate yourself from the match.

As the footage from Reddit user Moretreats shows, you’re deemed to be falling too fast by using both in a short period of time. As such, you hit the ground harder, take more damage, and therefore kill yourself. The replies show that others have had a similar experience, and they aren’t happy about it.

Fortnite Pirate Cannon Jetpack Bug | Is there a fix?

Fortnite Pirate Cannon Jetpack Bug

Nope, there isn’t a Fortnite Pirate Cannon Jetpack bug fix. Whether this is because Epic Games aren’t aware of it or not is unclear. There is the possibility that it simply isn’t a glitch in the game though.

If you think about it, being fired out of a cannon will send you off at a great speed. Using a jetpack shortly afterwards will only continue to fling you forward at that same speed. Therefore, when you eventually hit the ground, you’ll smash into the floor at the speed that the cannon fired you out at.

It’s logical for Fortnite‘s code to assume that you’ve simply taken too much fall damage, and eliminate you as a result. It sucks, but maybe leave the Jetpack at home next time.
