Want to upgrade to The Division 2Gold Edition from the Standard Edition? I don’t blame you. After all, it’s one of just two guaranteed ways to get your hands on the game early, as well as being showered with a bunch of other goodies for stumping up the extra cash. But if you’ve already bought The Division 2 is it possible to upgrade or change editions on PC, Xbox One, and PS4 or even get a refund for The Division 2? Well, it’s possible, but it’s going to be slightly more complex than you might have imagined.
Can I upgrade to The Division 2 Gold Edition?
Unfortunately, there’s no hard and fast way to upgrade to The Division 2 Gold Edition once you’ve pre-ordered the Standard Edition, which is frustrating to say the least. But the idea that there’s no refunds available after you’ve bought it is, in most cases, hogwash. And that’s the method you’ll need to use to both ensure you’re not going out of pocket by buying two copies of the same game.
So, to “upgrade” to The Division 2 Gold Edition, you’re going to need to get a refund on your current pre-order and then buy the Gold Edition from your chosen storefront. Be warned that it might take a few business days for the original refund to return to your bank account, so don’t buy something if you’re uncertain about being able to afford it.
On PC, you’re going to need to contact a Ubisoft Live Chat rep. You can do so here by scrolling down to the blue banner that says “Contact Customer Support.”
Log in and calmly explain the situation while ask for a refund and they’ll guide you through the process. Failing that, hailing Ubisoft Support on Twitter will give you a direct route to the refund process, just as long as you do it before The Division 2 unlock time on March 15.
It’s a little trickier on PS4 as you’re not talking to someone face-to-face (as it were). Instead, you’ll have to fill out this contact form.
Finally, things with Microsoft on Xbox One are buttery smooth. Log in and check your order history. Find The Division 2 and press “Cancel Item.”
Once that’s done (and you’re sure the refund has been processed/is being processed), you can simply head to the platform’s storefront and buy The Division 2 Gold Edition.
