The Division 2 Open Beta Audio Bug | Why is there no gunfire sound?

The Division 2 Open Beta audio bug appears to be everywhere. No gunfire sound, muffled sound in general, and other audio bugs make for a less-than-pleasant experience. Even worse, there’s no real fix for sound issues in The Division 2. If you’re wondering why that is and how to at least improve the laundry list of The Division 2 audio glitches and other issues, then be sure to read on below.

Unfortunately, it’s a beta, and the sound kinks are still be worked on. Reddit’s Known Issues thread indicates that a Day One Patch will be going live on March 15 to stop “audio degradation,” though it’s still very much going to be an issue for now. Here are a list of issues you might come across and are going to have to ignore for the next few days, if possible:

  • No gunfire
  • Gunfire continues after you’ve stopped firing
  • Low or muffled sounds
  • Persistent static
  • Reduced background music

During my limited experience with The Division 2 Open Beta, there seems to be a definite correlation between how long you spend with the game and how bad the sound gets. Rebooting and refreshing the game every 30-40 minutes, as annoying that that sounds (and is), seems to help the game remedy its audio issues, especially when it comes to gunfire cutting out, sounding distant, or dropping away completely.

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, sometimes all you can do is make a note of which weapons and areas are affected the most and pass on your findings. Then adjust accordingly. So, if you find one assault rifle in particular is acting up, don’t use it. Instead, pass on your your data to Ubisoft Support on Twitter or the Ubisoft Forum’s Technical Support page.
