A new Apex Legends hero has reportedly been leaked, with Octane having been revealed online. The new Apex Legend looks to change up the game considerably, armed with a set of new abilities and a helpful ultimate that will give Apex players a new Legend to master. So, what is the new Apex Legends hero release date and when should we expect to be able to play as them? While the leak is still missing a few vital details, let’s take a look at what we know so far.
Who is the Apex Legends new hero?
According to a convincing leak from Instagram user @childz_pl4y, Octane is a “high-speed daredevil” with abilities that greatly increase his agility, allowing him to sprint through the battle royale battlefield much more quickly than his competitors. In terms of design, Octane appears to be a masked figure wearing a set of goggles, along with a tactical vest and an exposed midriff. He is notably thinner than the other male characters, meaning that he could well have a smaller hitbox, which has been a key factor in the game’s most popular heroes thus far.
Aside from an image of Octane, nothing is known about his backstory or how he ties into Apex Legends‘ fledgling lore. We’ll have to wait for an official announcement to learn more on that.

The leak has highlighted all of Octane’s alleged abilities, with him set to have one of the most useful arsenals in the game. The full list of leaked abilities can be viewed below:

Adrenaline Junkie
- Tactical ability
- Move 30 percent faster for 8 seconds. Costs 10 percent health. Immune to slows while active.
Ultimate
- Ultimate ability
- Deployable jump pad that catapults users through the air.
Apex Legends New Hero Octane | When is the Octane release date?
Respawn Entertainment will release Apex Legends‘ first new hero during the game’s first season, which is set to launch in March. The developer hasn’t offered a concrete date for the season yet, but rest assured Apex players will get a brand new hero next month.
While the Octane leak does look convincing, he isn’t the only hero to have seemingly been unearthed recently. A leak from Apex Legends‘ source code revealed the following names, which are suspected to be new characters in the game:

- Husaria
- Jericho
- Nomad
- Prophet
- Rampart
- Rosie
- Skunner
With Octane not appearing in this list, it’s unclear if/when the character will make their way to the game, or if these names listed among the source code are correct. We’ll have to wait until an official announcement from Respawn to find out more.
