Resident Evil 2 Remake Detonator Location C4

Resident Evil 2 C4 Detonator and Battery location

You’ll find a barred door with a C4 charge attached early on in your exploration of the RPD in Resident Evil 2 remake. Unfortunately, the detonator is nowhere in sight. Since the C4 blocks the way to an essential item, you’ll want to find the detonator, and the battery to power it as soon as possible.

We’ll show you where to find the detonator to set off the C4 in Resident Evil 2 and the battery you need to make it work.

How do I detonate the C4 in Resident Evil 2 remake?

Resident Evil 2 C4 Blocked Area

Your first order of business in the RPD is to find the three Medallions needed to open the underground passage in the Main Hall. While the first two statues holding the medals are easy to reach, the third one is barred to you when you first find it.

On the third floor of the RPD in the West Storage Room, you’ll find an area surrounded by bars. The third statue is inside, and unfortunately, the entry to the area is barred by wooden boards and barbed wire. Fortunately, the madman who barred entry to the cell also left a block of C4 on it, and all you need to do to set it off is find the detonator.

Finding the detonator in Resident Evil 2 is easier said than done, though. There’s no big clue lying around as to where it is, so you’ll have to explore the RPD further to find it.

Where is the Detonator location in Resident Evil 2?

If you’ve made it to the third floor, then you’ve already passed by the detonator without even knowing it. In fact, by the time you see the C4 on your second run, there’s a chance you already have the detonator.

To find the detonator in Resident Evil 2, you need to get the bolt cutters first. Once you have those, head to the Operations Room and cut the chain on the south-facing door. This opens an office where you’ll find the detonator on a desk. The location is the same between the first and second runs, so as soon as you’re able to access this room, you’re good to go.

Where is the Battery location in Resident Evil 2?

Resident Evil 2 Battery Location

So you’re all hyped up you got the detonator, and you’re ready to set off the C4. Unfortunately, you also need to find a battery. To find the battery in Resident Evil 2, you’ll need to shut the steam off in the shower room on the second floor. To do this, you need to grab the Valve Handle from the East Office, which can also be unlocked using the bolt cutters.

Once you’ve shut the steam off, you can head over to the STARS Office. In the small office in the northwest corner of the room, you can find the only 9-volt battery in the whole RPD in a radio on the desk.

This is where things can get tricky if you’re on your second run. Grabbing the battery will trigger Mr. X following you, and the Tyrant won’t let up until you’ve taken the third medallion and made your way down the passage and underground. Make sure you’ve got the other two medals first if you’re on your second run, or you’re gonna be in for a bad time.

In any case, once you have the battery, you can combine it with the detonator and head up to the third floor West Storage Room. Now all you need to do is slap the detonator on the C4, and run away. When the ten-second timer reaches zero, the C4 will explode, and you’ll have access to the area with the statue.

Be warned, the explosion will attract your first Licker in a first run scenario, or immediately draw the Tyrant to your location on a second run. A nearby zombie will also awaken, which can be a major annoyance if you’re trying to dodge an even more dangerous enemy. Also, the nearby door to the library will now be blocked by a cabinet that has been knocked over by the blast. So, you’ll have to choose whether you want to risk taking the time to upright it or make your way back to the Main Hall via another route.
