Red Dead Redemption 2 Stuck at 90%

Red Dead Redemption 2 Stuck at 90% – Is There a Fix?

Uh-oh. There are those out there suffering through a Red Dead Redemption 2 stuck at 90% error which stops players from playing the game completely. So, if you can’t play the RDR 2 story after the latest update, or just want to fix the Red Dead Redemption 2 loading screen error, then here a couple of things you can do while you wait an official patch from Rockstar.

Red Dead Redemption 2 Stuck at 90% – What’s the Problem

As evidenced by more than one user on Twitter, (seriously, there’s quite a few) an error involving players clicking through to the story mode on the main menu post-Red Dead Redemption 2 1.03 update may see them met with the typical black-and-white loading screen showing off one of the many landmarks of the game’s Old West location, before freezing on 90%.

Any attempt to continue or exit out of the loading screen will be futile. The game will freeze and simply show a rotating revolver cylinder in the bottom left-hand corner with, you guessed it, 90% next to it. Ouch.

Red Dead Redemption 2 Stuck at 90% – Is There a Fix?

So, is there a stuck at 90% fix? Rockstar at the very least are aware of the issue, with the Rockstar Support Twitter account replying to those who have witnessed the problem, though it doesn’t appear to be widespread as of writing.

Rockstar has its own tedious solution, involving waiting for the game to freeze (again) and being stuck at 90%, pressing Options on PS4/Menu on Xbox One and press down on the d-pad four times. Once that’s done, press X on PS4/A on Xbox One, press “Save” and select a new save slot.

Wait for the game to save, press Options on PS4/Menu on Xbox One yet again (see, told you it was tedious), press down on the d-pad four times, press X/A then press right on the d-pad, and press hit the X/A button twice. You should then be met with a screen asking if you want to load the save game, wish you should accept. You’ll then bypass the loading screen and be back playing the Red Dead Redemption 2 story.

However, there’s no official fix to stop the problem from happening right now, but there’s one crucial thing you should be doing in the meantime.

Raising a ticket with Rockstar Support is integral to getting this fixed. If people don’t make their voices heard, as shown with Fallout 76, then nothing would get done. Log in via your Social Club login and let the developers know about it.
