Assassin’s Creed Odyssey – How to Avoid Fall Damage

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is out this week, and if you haven’t got it already with early access players will soon be running, jumping, and flinging themselves off cliffs in the best assassin fashion. However, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey fall damage is a very real thing, but how bad can it get? Can fall damage actually kill you? Is there a way to avoid fall damage, or even cut it out altogether? We’re here to help.

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Fall Damage – Is It Fatal?

There are many features in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey which Ubisoft doesn’t explain well like fast travel, for instance. Another feature of the game which receives no fanfare is Kassandra/Alexios’s “Leap of Faith” ability. It’s a default power that they have from the beginning of the game, and it basically means that jumping off a cliff will never kill them.

There is fall damage in the game, but no matter how high the fall it is never fatal. So there’s no more leaping from a high Synchronization point, missing the bale of hay, and ironically getting de-synchronized as your character splatters across the hard ground.

How to Avoid All Fall Damage

However, while fall damage is never fatal, it can be a real problem if you leap from a cliff or building, take damage, and land by a group of enemy soldiers or a really tough animal fight. Is it possible to avoid fall damage altogether? You can hold the crouch button (Circle on PS4 pads, “B” on Xbox pads) by the edge of a cliff or building and your character will hang off of it, and then you can climb down slowly. That’s the sensible way.

But what if you want to take a big leap and not get any fall damage? Once you reach level 20 the “Leap of Faith” ability will automatically be leveled up, and from that point on you’ll have no more fall damage at all. You can leap off the highest cliff and you won’t get hurt at all, which throws a ton of realism out the window for the sake of fun.
