Pokemon Go October

Pokemon Go October Guide

Pokemon Go October is the real Oktoberfest you should be concerned with, as Niantic’s lineup shows what’s bound to be a pretty exciting month for players. From new Raid Bosses to yet another Community Day event, October has lots in store for fans of Niantic’s mobile title. Here’s your all-encompassing guide for what looks like one of the most exciting months Pokemon Go has seen to date.

Pokemon Go October Guide: Regional Egg-stension

To kick things off, Niantic has announced that it intends to extend the Regional Pokemon 7km egg hatches until October 8, according to Serebii.net. Kanghaskan, Mr. Mime, Farfetch’d, and Tauros are all region-exclusive Gen 1 Pokemon for Australia, Europe, Asia, and North America, respectively. Niantic previously announced that these Pokemon could be obtained worldwide from 7km Alolan eggs for the whole month of September.

However, these eggs can only be obtained by exchanging Gifts with friends. The Gifts don’t always reward the player with 7km eggs, and there isn’t a 100 percent chance of the eggs hatching Regional Pokemon during this period, either. Luckily for players who didn’t manage to get all four, Niantic is extending the event for another eight days. Get hatching, trainers!

Pokemon Go October Guide: New Raid Bosses

New Raid bosses have already been identified by trainers. In case you didn’t know, Mewtwo is still up for grabs as a Tier 5 Raid Boss until October 23, too. These are the Pokemon we have come across for all five tiers so far:

Tier 1 Raid

  • Drowzee
  • Magikarp
  • Meditite
  • Wailmer

Tier 2 Raid

  • Exeggcutor
  • Kirlia
  • Mawile
  • Slowbro

Tier 3 Raid

  • Alakazam
  • Alolan Raichu
  • Claydol
  • Jynx
  • Starmie

Tier 4 Raid

  • Absol
  • Alolan Marowak
  • Houndoom
  • Tyranitar

Tier 5 Raid

  • Mewtwo

Pokemon Go October Guide: How to Catch Mewtwo

Our guide on Mewtwo will tell you all about Raid Times and Mewtwo counters if you’re looking to nab yourself a Mewtwo from a Tier 5 Raid. However, this Mewtwo has a different moveset to the Mewtwos that were previously obtained from EX Raids. As we wrote:

Other Mewtwo equipped with Shadow Ball are great counters, but Dark and Ghost moves like Bite, Crunch, and Lick really help, too, making Pokemon like Tyranitar, Gyarados, Gengar, and Alakazam fantastic choices. The latter two won’t survive many hits, but so long as Mewtwo isn’t rocking Focus Blast, a bunch of Tyranitar will make light work of Mewtwo raids.

If you follow that advice, Mewtwo will be a walk in the park — literally, if your local park is where you play Pokemon Go.

Pokemon Go October Guide: Beldum Community Day

It has been confirmed that Beldum will be the Pokemon getting a Community Day in October. This means that players will be in for a chance to get themselves a brand new shiny Metagross, if they’re lucky. The Community Day move will likely be Meteor Mash, which is Metagross’ powerful signature move.

The October Community Day will be on October 21. The times for the event are as follows:

  • Europe, Africa, Middle East, India: 10:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. BST
  • Australia, and the parts of Asia not mentioned above: 12:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m. JST
  • North America, South America and Greenland: 2:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m. EST

Pokemon Go October Guide: Meltan

September provided players with insights into the brand new “Hex Nut” Pokemon, Meltan, as well as lots of other Gen 8 leaks. It is likely that October will contain even more information on the mysterious Mythical Pokemon, as the “Introducing Meltan!” video posted by The Official Pokemon YouTube channel ended with the line “To be continued…” It is likely that more videos like this will be made available to Pokemon Go players this month, as we await the release of the Pokemon Lets Go games for the Nintendo Switch on November 16.

Pokemon Go October Guide: New Shiny Pokemon

According to YouTube user Reversal, Pokemon Go will offer players the chance to catch Shiny Krabbys throughout the month of October. This means that players will also be able to get a Shiny version of Krabby’s evolved form, Kingler. You can read through the full list of Shiny Pokemon in Pokemon Go here.

Pokemon Go October Guide: Spinda

Although Spinda was a latecomer from Gen 3, its now the subject of a monthly quest. There are eight forms of Spinda that players can encounter in Pokemon Go, which are being released monthly. October is the third form of Spinda to be released, which is actually Form 1, after Form 8 in August and Form 3 in September.

To get a chance to catch Form 1 of Spinda this month, all you need to do is land two “nice” curveball throws in a row. After completing this task, Spinda will appear. Spinda won’t run away, as it’s a Research reward, so you should definitely be able to catch it pretty easily.

Pokemon Go October Guide: New Research Breakthrough

It has been confirmed that Suicune will be the Field Research reward for Pokemon Go players in October. Suicune will complete the Legendary Beasts trio, as Raikou and Entei have already had their months in the spotlight. Given that both the Gen 1 Legendary Birds and the Gen 2 Legendary Beasts have now all had their Research Breakthrough months, it’s likely that Niantic will soon add the Gen 3 Legendary Regi trio to the game — Regice, Regirock, and Registeel.

Pokemon Go October Guide: How to Catch Ghost Pokemon

So, it’s that time of year again. Halloween is just around the corner, which means that everybody’s favorite Ghost-type Pokemon are out to play. Although they’re usually difficult to find, October sees a massive influx of Gastly and its friends.

If you’re doing the Research quests for Mew, then now is the time to stock up on the Ghost Pokemon you need. Although you would usually need to play at night or challenge Raid Bosses in order to encounter Ghost Pokemon, for this month only you should be able to encounter them as you would any other type. Keep an eye out for Ghost-type nests, too, as they’re far more likely to spawn over the next few weeks. Here’s a list of the Ghost-type Pokemon you can encounter in Pokemon Go at present:

  • Gastly
  • Haunter
  • Gengar
  • Shuppet
  • Banette
  • Misdreavus
  • Duskull
  • Dusclops
  • Sableye

That’s it for Pokemon Go‘s stacked October schedule. We’ll update this guide as more news for the month ahead comes in.
