Dead by Daylight Mangled: What Does the Mangled Status Effect Mean?

Dead by Daylight has all sorts of nasty things waiting for those who dare play it, but some things just cannot be explained with a single word such as the Dead by Daylight Mangled status effect. Taking a look at it, you’d expect the players playing one of the Survivors to be crushed into some sort of ball, but, with this apparently not being the case, we can understand why some players are feeling mighty confused right now.

Dead by Daylight Mangled: What Does the Mangled Status Effect Mean?

So if you’re not crushed into a ball, and if your limbs aren’t hanging off… Then what does the Mangled status effect mean? According to the Dead by Daylight Reddit, as well as the Wiki, the status effect occurs when the Survivor is heavily injured and thus requires more time to be healed completely.

What’s more, the status effect can be caused by a number of different weapons and one Killer perk, which can seem like overkill for those who are feeling pretty torn up over being in a constant state of not being able to heal as fast as others.

Dead by Daylight Mangled: What Causes the Mangled Status Effect?

As mentioned above, there are a lot of different ways you can receive the Mangled status effect and as far as we’re aware, very little ways to get rid of it.

Weapons that can cause or worsen the Mangled status effect are:

  • Begrimed Chains (Bubba’s Chainsaw)
  • Begrimed Head (Hunting Hatchets)
  • Blind Warrior White (Wailing Bell)
  • Rusted Chains (Bubba’s Chainsaw)
  • Rusted Jaws (Bear Traps)
  • Rusty Attachments (Jigsaw’s Baptism)
  • Rusty Head (Hunting Hatchet)
  • Sulphuric Acid Vial (The Afterpiece Tonic)

The sole Killer perk that can cause or worsen the Mangled status effect is:

  • Sloppy Butcher (All Characters)

Now that you know what causes the effect, our only advice is this: run.
