WoW BfA Allied Races Guide: How to Unlock New BfA Allied Races

With the rise of Legion came the arrival of Allied Races in World of Warcraft. These new faction-specific races aren’t just a way of rewarding players for engaging in the endless reputation grinds that make up most end-game content; their unique character models look pretty bloody great too. Those who have collected all of Legion‘s races will be pleased to note that Battle for Azeroth has some colorful new additions that are just as captivating. Our WoW BfA Allied Races Guide will show you how to unlock the new WoW BfA Allied Races, and what perks they’ll give you once you’ve recruited them.

WoW BfA Allied Races Guide: The New BfA Allied Races

Fans will already be familiar with the Void Elves and the Highmountain Tauren who play their own significant roles in BfA. However, what you may not know is that BfA has now introduced even more Allied Races in the form of Dark Iron Dwarves, Kul Tirans, Zandalari Trolls, and Mag’har Orcs. Even though the Kul Tirans and the Zandalari have not been made available for player unlocks yet, those who are dedicated to the rep farm will be able to recruit the following Allied Races at this point in time:

  • Alliance – Dark Iron Dwarves
  • Horde – Mag’har Orcs

WoW BfA Allied Races Guide: Dark Iron Dwarves

Wow BfA Allied Races Dark Iron

The Dark Iron Dwarves have had a bit of a dark past, but they make it clear from the start of BfA that they’re looking to put their best foot forward with King Anduin. If they’re all as sassy as Moira Thaurissan, then you can trust that they’re going to bring a little bite to the Alliance’s park

Perks Available to the Dark Iron Dwarves

Dark Iron Dwarves are eligible to be any of the classes below:

  1. Mage
  2. Hunter
  3. Paladin
  4. Monk
  5. Shaman
  6. Warlock
  7. Warrior
  8. Priest
  9. Mage

Furthermore, Dark Iron Dwarves have the following race perks:

  • Forged in Flames – this reduces the damage taken from physical attacks by 1%
  • Dungeon Delver – increases indoor movement speed
  • Fireblood – this removes debuff effects and grants an increase in either Strength, Agility or Intellect for each debuff removed
  • Mass Production – this cuts your Blacksmithing crafting time in half
  • Mole Machine – you get a free portal to either Stormwind or Ironforge in, well, the mole machine

How to Unlock the Dark Iron Dwarves

For those who are wanting to curry favor with the Dark Iron Dwarves, you’re going to have to first pick up the achievement Ready for War. This is obtained once you complete all possible war campaigns in both Alliance and Horde territories. The important reputation to pick up here is 7th Legion reputation and like with all other rep grinds, increasing your 7th Legion rep will then unlock more quests to help you accrue said rep faster. It’s a dark (iron) cycle.

You’ll have to pick up the following quests as part of your endeavor to deal with the Dark Iron Dwarves:

  • (112) Foothold: Nazmir
  • (114) Foothold: Voldun
  • (118) Foothold: Zuldazar
  • (120) Blood on the Sand
  • (Friendly, 7th Legion) Chasing Darkness
  • (Honored, 7th Legion) A Golden Opportunity
  • (Honored, 7th Legion) Blood in the Water
  • (Revered, 7th Legion) The Strike on Zuldazar

Once you’ve completed all the war campaigns available to you, it’ll be a matter of turning in World Quests to get yourself from Revered to Exalted. If you’re wanting to grind out 7th Legion rep specifically, then you’ll be able to use your BfA mission table to embark on specific missions to gain you that rep.

The last nail in the Dark Iron mole machine comes after you’ve reached Exalted — there will be a scenario that you have to complete which involves dealing with good ol’ Ragnaros and firing up the Black Anvil. Once you’ve done that and taken Moira back to King Anduin to have her welcomed into the fold, you’ll have unlocked them as a playable Allied Race.

WoW BfA Allied Races Guide: Mag’har Orcs

WoW BfA Allied Races Maghar

The Mag’har Orcs are a bit of a hangover from our jaunts in Warlords of Draenor and Legion. Famous for being the orcs who said “Oh hell no” to Gul’dan’s creepy (and demonic) offers of power, they took up with Grommash Hellscream to turn the tide of death and destruction wrought by the Legion. These fierce fighters are going to be invaluable in the Horde’s war efforts against the Alliance.

Perks Available to the Mag’har Orcs

Mag’har Orcs are eligible to be any of the classes below:

  1. Mage
  2. Hunter
  3. Monk
  4. Shaman
  5. Warrior
  6. Priest
  7. Mage

Furthermore, Mag’har Orcs have the following race perks:

  • Sympathetic Vigor – pets have increased health
  • Open Skies – this increases your mounted speed
  • Ancestral Call – this increases a secondary stat of either Haste, Crit, Mastery or Versatility for a short time
  • Savage Blood – debuff durations that affect your constitution are reduced

How to Unlock the Mag’har Orcs

Similar to those wanting to unlock the Dark Iron Dwarves, you’re going to have to complete Ready for War on Horde side to get the process started with the Mag’har Orcs. The important reputation to pick up here is Honorbound reputation and like with all other rep grinds, increasing your Honorbound rep will then unlock more quests to help you accrue said rep faster.

You’ll have to pick up the following quests as part of your endeavor to make good with the Mag’har Orcs:

  • (112) Foothold: Drustvar
  • (114) Foothold: Tiragarde Sound
  • (118) Foothold: Stormsong Valley
  • (120) The First Assault
  • (Friendly, Honorbound) The Marshal’s Grave
  • (Honored, Honorbound) Death of a Tidesage
  • (Honored, Honorbound) At the Bottom of the Sea
  • (Revered, Honorbound) The Strike on Boralus

Once you’ve completed all the war campaigns available to you, it’ll be a matter of turning in World Quests to get yourself from Revered to Exalted. If you’re wanting to grind out Honored rep specifically, then you’ll be able to use your BfA mission table to embark on specific missions to gain you that rep.

Keeping up with the Mag’har Orcs will involve participating in a scenario that is open to you once you’ve reached Exalted — this will involve you revisiting the Mag’har’s Draenor woes, and will feature series favorites like Grommash, Lantresor, and even Yrel. Once you’ve done that and taken Overlord Geya’rah back to the Warchief, you’ll be able to create your very own Mag’Har playable character.

Now that we’ve given you a little insight into how to unlock the newest available Allied Races, why don’t you give the rep grind a go? While we wait with bated breath for BfA‘s first raid to come out, and for the Kul Tirans and the Zandalari to become recruitable, playing nice with the Dark Iron and the Mag’har will give you something entertaining to do. Don’t just take our word for it; go forth and recruit them yourself.
