Destiny 2 Lest Ye Be Judged Trophies The Emissary

Destiny Comet Explained: What is It, Release Date, More

Destiny Comet was recently leaked on the Walmart Canada website, up for pre-order alongside a bunch of other unannounced games that will be presumably revealed next month at E3 2018. While some games leaked like Forza Horizon 5 and Borderlands 3 are self-explanatory, what is this new game called Comet?

Is Destiny Comet a brand new game? Is it related to Bungie’s popular online shooter series? These are the questions that players have right now and we are going to answer all of them and more in this quick FAQ regarding the unannounced game. Let’s get started with what it is, its release date, and more.

Destiny Comet Explained: What is It?

What is Destiny Comet? Well, put simply, it is certainly 100 percent related to Bungie’s franchise and not something else in the gaming industry. In fact, Bungie has already revealed that the third expansion for its sequel will be revealed at E3 2018 next month, presumably at the PlayStation press conference.

As such, Destiny Comet is most definitely the codename for the third expansion of Destiny 2. Notice that we said codename. We highly doubt that Comet will be the official name for the third expansion, following Curse of Osiris and Warmind that released just yesterday as of publishing.

To understand why Destiny Comet is only a codename, we need to give a little history of the series. When originally announced, it was used to define the content that would come every couple of years and be bigger than a traditional update or expansion. Initially, The Taken King was the first of these and changed significantly.

The Taken King released about a year after the first game and we suspect that Destiny Comet is the same. We suspect the Destiny Comet expansion release date will be sometime this fall around September or so. We’ll find out more next month.
