Alright, so if you're reading this, you've got a copy of Gran Turismo 4 in your hands and you have no idea on what to do, or you read the FAQ name and want to know what the heck I'm going on about. Well, this FAQ is here to give you some instructions on how to get yourself a good starting position in GT4 that will get you a really fast car and a large wad 'o cash in the back pocket of those virtual jeans you imagine your wearing in the game.
Well, first things first. You're going to need a license. I suggest getting at least a national A grade, as some later steps in this FAQ will require such a license. Once that's done, you should go out car shopping.
If you've loaded a GT3 save for the cash, might I suggest buying a Dodge Ram from the American Dodge dealer? This car (well, truck) is pretty beefy and useful in 3 types of races: 4WD, rally and truck. Yes, that's right. You will need a truck to finish the truck races, and the Dodge happens to be rather multi-purpose enough to save a lot of cash.
If you don't have this boost, then things are a bit harder. That Chrysler Sunfire Concept you got for getting an A grade license with bronze rankings is not nearly fast enough for what challenges lie ahead. I suggest doing a couple of the beginner cups like the Sunday Cup in order to earn some cash to upgrade the performance.
Once you believe you have a rather sturdy ride, then I suggest going to the rally races. Chances are, you won't be able to compete in the dirt and snow rallys as you don't have the right tyres. But, the first two rallys are tarmac, and as such open to all A license holders. Try competing in the first rally. If you win, you'll net yourself a Cadillac Cien '02, a car with 700+bhp! That should help you win a couple of races for sure.
Now that you have the uber-fast ride, you'll need some cash. Use the Cien to win rally #2. This will probably be easier that winning the first rally was, but will at times seem totally insane, as this rally is full of hairpin turns, one in particular the Cien will have to be in first gear to take. First gear! Anyway, now that you've won this rally, you'll get a Toyota Rally Car that I can't remember the name of. The car is useless, so you might as well sell it. But be warned: The car may look hideously ugly (and it does), but one mans trash is another mans treasure. Not quite with me? Look at the selling price. Now pick you jaw off the floor and jam it back into its proper position. That's right, that hideous, nausea inducing car sells for over a quarter of a million credits! Plenty for you to fund your racing effort for the time being. And anyway, you could always return to this rally to win it and sell it again!
And thus my time here has ended. With these basic instructions, you'll be on your way to total vehicular domination in the world of GT4! I'd close by saying 'Good luck!', but you don't need luck when you've got a Cien '02.
