Overwatch League Tokens Explained: How to Get Them and What They Do

Just earlier today, Blizzard introduced a brand new currency called Overwatch League tokens that are an optional purchase. These tokens are similar to other currency in the popular online FPS game, giving you access to a specific set of items that can only be bought with the league tokens.

Overwatch League Tokens Explained

The Overwatch League tokens are used for one purpose only at this time: purchasing league skins for your favorite esports teams. For those that are unaware, the Overwatch League is an official Blizzard esports competitive league that starts tomorrow and goes well into the summer. If you want more information on the league including teams, how to watch it and more, check this complete guide here.

The Overwatch League tokens are actually the only way to purchase these specific skins, which we recommend, as some of them simply look awesome. To see what all of the team skins look like, check out this guide. Also, the league skins are important because it allows you to represent your favorite team in the league. But how do you get them?

You can get these Overwatch League tokens simply by following the same steps as you would were you to purchase the skins themselves. On the main menu, navigate down to the tab that says “Overwatch League”, then select your favorite team.

Once you’ve selected them, choose which character you want the skin for, and go to purchase it. If you don’t have enough Overwatch League tokens, it will give you the option to buy it using that. Each skin costs only 100 league tokens and Blizzard will give everyone that logs in between now and February 9th enough to buy one skin.

But, if you’re wanting more than one skin, you will need to purchase more Overwatch league tokens in order to do so. The four options are: 100 tokens (enough for one skin) for $4.99, 200 for $9.99, 400 for $19.99, 900 for $39.99, and 2600 for $99.99. Some of the proceeds goes towards the teams that you purchase the skin for.
