Batman The Telltale Series Switch Guide: How to Switch Between Touchscreen and Controller Modes

Considering the Nintendo Switch is a handheld and console hybrid that features a multi-touch capacitive touchscreen, you would think that many games would support it for gameplay or simply to navigate the UI. However, that is not the case, as very few so far have taken advantage of the touchscreen, but Batman: The Telltale Series is different.

Batman Switch takes full advantage of the system’s tablet-like touchscreen, more than almost any other Nintendo Switch game out currently. Like a Telltale mobile game, you are able to play the entire first season of Batman with the touchscreen, in addition to using the expected controller inputs.

Unfortunately, Batman: The Telltale Series does not explain to you at all that this is a possible feature. Nowhere in the options, settings, instructions, tutorials, or anywhere does it let you know that you can switch between inputs. We’ve figured out how to switch, and it’s pretty simple, so this is how.

Batman Switch

First and foremost, it’s obvious that you must have your Switch in handheld mode – with or without Joy-Con’s attached – to utilize the touchscreen. You can navigate the entire menu and UI by simply touching on the screen, but you can also play the entire Batman season using this method.

At anytime during gameplay, simply tap the screen and you will switch to touchscreen mode. You know that you are in touchscreen mode if you see a grayish border appear around the screen. It will change the quicktime event buttons onscreen into a generic circle instead of a specific required button like B or X.

It will even change the size of certain onscreen selections like the four chat options. If you decide you want to switch back to the controller mode, all you have to do is press a button on your controller or move the thumbstick and it will instantly switch back. You can switch back-and-forth in Batman Switch as much as you want, even during the most intense actions sequences.
