Get your filthy hands off my herring.
[image1]A kid-friendly and almost cloyingly-cute strategy game slated for release in late August, Defendin’ DePenguin is pretty much what its title suggests: a penguin-themed tower-defense game.
You probably already know the basic drill: pengie-style village, road full of twists and turns running through it, enemy animals start rolling into your territory to steal all your fish, various defensive tower mechanisms start to go up, and snipe-larity ensues. It’s a kid-friendly title, so the turrets are appropriately non-lethal – one of them cranks off snowballs. It’s just enough powderpuff firepower to take down some of your smaller, less-determined enemies. Bigger enemies might require an actual, full, intact snowman to take them down…and yes, there’s a gun for that, too.
[image2]Bigger enemies still such as walruses (walrusi? walrusem?) who won’t even fall to a freakin’ snowman require the now-we’re-getting-into-dangerous-territory upgrade of the Ice Shard cannon. Nothing like a cold, sharp projectile moving at a hostile speed to cut through all that blubber. Resources permitting—it’s not clear at this stage if you’re spendin’ as well as defendin’ those fish—you can place up to 10 towers, but you might only be able to afford far fewer. As with some other tower defense games, you’ll have to option to have your protagonist pengie, Little Blue, personally man—er, penguin—individual towers for a little extra stopping power.
