Dragons Dogma 2 Learn Elvish Translate Elf Language

Dragon’s Dogma 2: How to Learn Elvish and Translate Elf Language

You’ll need to learn Elvish in Dragon’s Dogma 2 to speak with the inhabitants of Sacred Arbor. If you arrive at Sacred Arbor without a way to understand the Elf language, you won’t be able to communicate with those who live there, which will lock you out of quite a bit of content. Fortunately, there are a few ways to translate Elvish that you can find on your journey.

How to translate Elvish in Dragon’s Dogma 2

Dragons Dogma 2 Translate Elvish Glyndwr

There are three ways to learn how to understand Elvish in Dragon’s Dogma 2:

  • Recruit a pawn in the rift that has the Woodland Wordsmith specialization.
  • Obtain the Woodland Wordsmith Tome and teach your main pawn the specialization.
  • Find Glyndwr in Vernmouth and complete his quest line.

Have a pawn translate Elvish for you

The easiest way to understand the Elf language in Dragon’s Dogma 2 is to have a pawn translate it for you. I recommend finding a pawn in the rift that has the Woodland Wordsmith specialization and recruiting them. Plenty are available, though you may have to try a few rifts before you find one.

You can also get the Woodland Wordsmith Specialization by increasing affinity with an Elf in Sacred Arbor. Give them flowers once a day for 2-3 days in a row, and they’ll gift you the Woodland Wordsmith Tome. You can then use this to teach your main pawn Elvish.

However, teaching the Elf language to your main pawn is a waste because it’s only really useful in Sacred Arbor. Instead, you should give them a more helpful specialization that applies throughout the game.

Have Glyndwr translate Elvish for you

You can find Glyndwr in the marketplace in Vernworth. He’ll give you the Trial of Archery sidequest. Complete this and follow his story, and he’ll eventually head to Sacred Arbor. Once he’s there, he’ll translate Elvish for you, and you won’t have to worry about having a pawn with the Woodland Wordsmith specialization.
