Starfield What Faction Should I Join First

Starfield Best First Faction: Which Faction Should I Join First?

The first faction you join in Starfield will make a big difference to your playthrough. You automatically join Constellation as part of the main story, but there are several optional ones that you can become a member of as well. Unlike Bethesda’s past games, joining a faction doesn’t disqualify you from being recruited from another, so you can experience all their storylines in one playthrough. With that in mind, we’ll look at which faction is the best to join first in Starfield.

What’s the best faction to join first in Starfield?

The best faction to join first in Starfield is the UC Vanguard. You’re introduced to the recruiter during your first mission with Constellation, and it’s obvious that it’s geared toward lower-level players.

The Vanguard is the United Colonies’ civilian fleet, which acts similarly to privateers. As part of the Vanguard, you’re expected to uphold the laws of the United Colonies, assist in military operations, and perform rescue and transport missions on behalf of the UC. As a reward for their service, after a period of service, Vanguard members receive UC citizenship.

More Starfield

If you join the Vanguard in Starfield, you can access two questlines after your probationary mission. One of them leads directly into another faction’s questline, as you’re asked to join the Crimson Fleet pirates as a UC Sysdef secret agent. The other has you combating a new mutation of the deadly Xenomorph species, which threatens human life throughout the cosmos.

Fortunately, you’re not locked into any faction’s missions once you join. You can be a Vanguard pilot, a Crimson Fleet pirate, a FreeStar Ranger, a Constellation explorer, and more without any issues. So, if another faction catches your fancy, you can put your Vanguard work on hold for as long as you’d like.
